Rewind 8.5 years ago, I received devastating news at the young age of 33, stage 2B triplenegative left breast cancer. Everything was happening quickly, double mastectomy, 4 months of chemotherapy, 30 radiation treatments, a 2 and 3 year old and going through a divorce. It was summertime and I was upset about the thought of losing my hair but being alive to see my children grow up was more important than that head of hair. I ended up loving being bald. My eyebrows and lashes didn’t fall out until the last couple weeks of chemo and I knew they would grow back, NO biggie.

Fast forward 8.5 years later, I never suffered from headaches, but started getting them at work. Took a couple Tylenol and it was gone but would come back in the evening. This went on for a couple weeks until on March 19, 2018, I went home and it felt like my brain exploded. I couldn’t get out of bed for work the next day and ended up calling in sick for 3 days. I either had to go to the doctor and get a note or go back to work so I went to the emergency room. The emergency room doctor gave me all the migraine concoctions possible to get rid of the headache with no success so he strongly suggested that a brain scan be done. He couldn’t let me leave without finding out what was wrong. Scan came back with a large meningioma in my frontal lobe.

“The doctor told me that there was a good
chance that my eyebrows wouldn’t grow back. This left me a low self-esteem and 0 confidence.”

Suddenly all those fears came flooding back until the doctor explained that a meningioma isn’t considered cancer until it’s at a stage 3. I was transferred to UCSF for an 8 hour surgery to have the tumor recessed. Due to the aggressiveness of these tumors it was highly recommended that I do another 30 radiation treatments. The aftermath of surgery and radiation left me with 1/3 of my head shaved, bald spots on the side and NO eyebrows. The doctor told me that there was a good chance that my eyebrows wouldn’t grow back. This left me a low self-esteem and 0 confidence.

I decided to look into tattooing, but wanted something that looked more realistic and that’s when I discovered microblading. I came across Microblading Chico on the internet and called to make an appointment for a consultation. I was excited but nervous because this is a face we are talking about. One mistake and I’m stuck with this for 1 to 3 years. Jennie at Microblading Chico got me right in for my consultation. I wanted it done right away because I was tired of hiding or trying to draw my brows on with little luck. She was amazing from the moment I walked in the door. We talked for over an hour, I showed her pictures I found on Pinterest and she gave me suggestions on what she’d do to achieve the shape and color I wanted.

After my consultation I was no longer nervous and left there feeling like she was an old friend I have known for years.

After my consultation I was no longer nervous and left there feeling like she was an old friend I have known for years. 2 weeks later was the big day and I was ecstatic to finally have eyebrows again. The whole process took 3.5 hours which included her drawing, measuring, shaping, blading and shading my brows. Jennie is very professional and sweet, just an all-around nice person. I left there feeling like my million dollar self and would recommend her to everyone I know.
